This past summer, I finally got around to painting and decorating my daughter’s room in our “new” house…..that we’ve been in nearly two years.
She is 10 years old and I didn’t want something that she would outgrow and that I would have to redo in the near future.
My daughter is a very bubbly girl who loves to laugh. She loves pink and green and is naturally drawn to preppy type patterns. With all that in mind, I decided to use both of her favorite colors on her wall and while visiting Sanibel Island, FL, she found a green quilt with hot pink embroidered starfish on it at HomeGoods. (If there is a Home Goods, Marshall’s, TJ Maxx or Tuesday Morning in any town I visit, I must go!!)
Here is the finished product:
And, here is our cat Princess “supervising” my photo shoot.
This is my favorite part of her room. I got bought these vinyl letters two years ago but was unsure where I was going to use them. I bought a canvas and painted apple green stripes on it. From there, all I had to do was stick the letters on and attach a cute ribbon.
And, just so you can see the detail of the fabric on the cornice:
How cute is that green leopard print?!
I bought the vinyl decal polka dots from Amazon. With two different colors on the walls, the white dots tied everything together and made it look more intentional and coordinated. I’ll have a link to these dots in my featured products tab.
My daughter’s room is 11×11. I ordered 4 packs to get this many dots. I painted dots on a wall before and had problems when I repainted because you could see the dot through the new color. These dots just peel right off without damaging the wall when we’re ready to do something different.
Part two of this post will be instructions on making the no sew window cornice treatment.
(Note: I changed the pictures out on this post because the original pictures were soooo crappy. I had to do a little adjustment on my camera but these are much better).
Happy Decorating!!

SUPER CUTE. My daughters walls are green and pink too. I love all the details you put into it.
Thanks Val!! I think I’m secretly trying to create the room I wish I had at that age.
